Have you lost your sense of smell? Join us for a day of learning how smell training might help you! We will spend some time understanding where your sense of smell is now, how you can use smell training to amplify any natural recovery you may have had, learn some sniffing techniques and get stuck into all the different smells in the smell library. We will have a light vegetarian lunch as part of the day and discuss some food strategies to make your experience of food more pleasurable. If the weather is good we can have a brisk walk to the beautiful River Test to refresh our olfactory palate. You will be able to make your own smell training kit to take home with essential oils that you choose. Speaking with others who share smell loss is also an enriching part of the day. This workshop is suitable for post-viral anosmics as well as head injury anosmics who have experienced some recovery. If you are not sure whether this is for you, read this for more advice. There is also an article about how important guided smell training is in helping people get to grips with their new reality, which you can read about here. Reading about that will tell you more about what to expect from this day workshop. Cost of the workshop and lunch is £65.
It is expected that the BBC will be joining the workshop to tape us while we discuss smell training and smell loss. Anyone joining the workshop should be prepared to grant permission to use their recorded voice for broadcast. You will need to sign a release form on the day.
